Time to pursue your dream job in 2024?

The new year is only a few days away, and you may be considering taking your career in a new direction. Though it may be overwhelming to think about change at this time of year, you’re certainly not alone. A recent LinkedIn survey found that sixty-two percent of workers are open to considering new job opportunities.

Of those considering changing jobs, the respondents said they want a work environment that encourages openness, transparency, vulnerability, and provides opportunities to foster improvement. They also want a workplace that welcomes them to use their talents, collaborate with others, and be engaged in their work.

If you aim to start the new year with a new job, note these five things to consider when searching for your next position:

Do You Align With Your Company’s Culture?

A positive and inclusive company culture is essential for a fulfilling work experience. Are your values and work style aligned with your current workplace? If not, seeking a job at a company that fosters a different culture may be worthwhile. According to a Forbes article, 74 percent of American workers believe culture influences their job performance, from being more efficient to improving customer service. A supportive and collaborative work environment significantly impacts job satisfaction and happiness.

Are There Career Growth Opportunities?

It may be time to look if your job lacks professional development and career advancement opportunities. Seek positions that offer clear paths for growth, skill enhancement, and promotions. Finding a new job with more responsibilities and challenges may revitalize your career.

Job Compensation and Benefits – Do Yours Meet Industry Standards?

Compare your current salary, bonuses, and benefits with industry standards to ensure you are fairly compensated. If you believe your skills and contributions fall short, it’s time to explore new opportunities.

Are Your Job Skills Staying Current with Your Industry?

Stagnation in skill development can hinder your long-term career goals. If your current position doesn’t provide opportunities to learn new skills or you feel your skill set needs to be updated in your industry, consider a job change. Look for positions that allow you to acquire new skills, stay updated with industry trends, and remain competitive in the evolving job market.

Do You Have a Healthy Work-Life Balance?

Does your current employer demand excessive overtime, frequent weekend work, and not provide flexibility? If so, explore options that prioritize a better work-life balance. A healthy balance between work and personal life is crucial for overall well-being.
